"I'd driven past this 21st century building at night and noticed these gateau-like layers of orange, cream and blue colours, so returned with a tripod to take the picture." J J Marshall
URBANPIX CAPTION for this Oxford card:
The purpose-built Said Business School building was designed by Architects Dixen & Jones (designers of the new Royal Opera House in London) and opened in October 2001. Like the University’s more traditional college buildings, the understated exterior hides cloistered walkways, a large internal courtyard and a Fellows’ Garden which includes the remains of the 13th-century Cistercian Rewley Abbey.
The Business School is built on the site of the Oxford Rewley Road Station which was opened by Buckinghamshire Railway in 1851 and closed to passengers in 1951. In 1852 the Great Western Railway opened their station on the adjacent site, the location of the current Oxford Railway Station.
The Business School enjoys a reputation for innovative business education and is a part of Oxford University.
